Brief Description of the Project
The subject of the project is the upgrade of the Surface and Upper-Air Meteorological Stations Network of the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS), through the supply, installation, and operation of a total of one hundred and three (103) systems of five different types. The project also includes the upgrade of its central IT and telecommunications system, as well as the enhancement of the hardware and software infrastructure for the production and online distribution (Portal) of data from surface stations, weather forecasts, climatic products, etc., to all interested parties in order to meet the operational needs of HNMS.
The project individual objects are the following

-
The production and online dissemination (via Portal) and communication technologies (mobile and fixed telecommunications networks) of real-time data from the stations, weather forecasts, and climate and environmental meteorological products to all interested stakeholders (operational or research organizations, collaborating public authorities, international organizations, as well as the general public, etc.).
-
The upgrade of the existing upper-air stations network with Automatic Radiosonde Systems (ARS) for the measurement, recording, and processing of upper-atmosphere meteorological data.
