The project Artificial Intelligence Deployable Agent (AIDA) aims to develop and upgrade European defence technology in the field of cyber defence AI.
The project addresses two main challenges that defence sector end-users are facing: 1) A growing attack surface due to increasing digitalisation and 2) the use of AI-based solutions for delivering cyber attacks. As a solution, the project delivers a common European framework for developing and operating cyber defence AI agents across the entire cyber incident cycle. AIDA shall prototype AI agents for all military domains to TRL7. The focus is on supporting operators and decision-makers within various scenarios (from preparation through response up to lessons-learned) and technologies (manned-unmanned, fixed-mobile).
For successful adoption, due attention is given to AI trustworthiness, both from technical and cultural perspectives. The solution is intended to be used in conjunction with existing or future cyber defence and security toolsets, as a way to enhance the capabilities and avoid unnecessary duplication. Nonetheless, separate AI management modules are planned within AIDA which have the potential to become a pan-European platform for cyber (defence) AI agents.
The project delivers highly needed benefits to the security and autonomy of the EU (incl., for critical infrastructure) and to the advancement of the EU’s industrial base in the strategic area of AI. In addition, the solution shall alleviate human resource availability problems and promote military mobility through securing modern autonomous vehicles and aircrafts.
