MINISTRY OF CITIZEN PROTECTION
OBJECT:
Computer System for the Issuance of Certificates (Passports)
YEAR:
2004

Brief Description of the Project

SPACE HELLAS participates in a consortium of companies, which, following a public tender carried out by the Ministry of Citizen Protection, undertook the implementation of the project ”Computer System for the Issuance of Certificates (Passports)”.

The particular project involves the creation of a Central Passport Office (CPO), equipped with high-tech systems, for the issuance by the Greek Police of new Greek, machine-readable, of high-security and fidelity passports. Using this system, the CPO will be able to produce an integrated digital machine-readable passport, according to the ICAO, DOC. 9303, directives, PART 1, 5th edition, 2002.

Moreover, the CPO’s complete software system will ensure:

  • the control process for the existence of a valid passport
  • the data retrieval process in the central database of the HPH to check the conditions for issuing the passport,
  • the process of registering data relevant to loss, theft, and embezzlement of an issued passport.
