Title:
RESPOND - Reliable, Efficient, and Secure Emergency Response Networks Deployment
Program:
SUB1.1 Research Excellence Partnerships
Duration:
14 months
Summary:

The project focuses on the development of the holistic RESPOND platform, designed to support GOVSATCOM systems, with the following key objectives: 1.Integration of heterogeneous communication layers, including LEO satellites, UAVs, and conventional terrestrial infrastructures, to establish a unified and resilient communication network

2.Development of an advanced security framework capable of monitoring, detecting, and mitigating security threats across all layers of the network

3.Optimization of data traffic management and network performance within the multi-layer architecture through the application of Software Defined Radio (SDR) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies.

The project leverages satellite, aerial, and terrestrial communication technologies to enable seamless connectivity between remote nodes and cloud computing environments. Within this context, a central objective is the implementation of an advanced Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) system, designed to continuously monitor, identify, and respond to potential security incidents throughout the network.

By incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies, and specifically Reinforcement Learning (RL) algorithms, the proposed system aims to strengthen end-to-end security across digital infrastructures and governmental communications. This approach ensures proactive threat detection and efficient response mechanisms against evolving cyber threats. Furthermore, communication paths are dynamically managed through SDN-based solutions and are continuously monitored by the integrated SIEM application, ensuring adaptive control and situational awareness across the entire network ecosystem.

In this context, the RESPOND project has been approved under the framework of the programme “SUB1.1 – Research Excellence Partnerships (SUB)”, which is co-funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” and national resources. The project is aligned with the thematic area “08-DT: Digital Technologies”, and more specifically with the intervention area “08.02: Smart Networks and Services.”
