Summary:

The purpose of the NEREAS project is the design and implementation of an integrated IT system (platform), based on advanced sensor networks, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence technologies. The NEREAS system will be suitable for onboard use in ships transporting goods globally while enabling usability/monitoring by managers of shipping companies. The system developed in NEREAS will:

• calculate –and present to the crew- the optimal speed and/or trim, depending on weather conditions, targeting at less fuel consumption.

• offer to the crew the opportunity for constant monitoring of the situation and the efficiency of the main propulsion engines, the generators and the ship's boiler, as well as the efficient monitoring of fuel consumption in real time.
