Title:
Automated Cytological Detection of Malignancy and its Techno-Economic Significance
Program:
3rd CSF
Duration:
18 months
Summary:

The goal of the project is the creation of innovative diagnostic methodologies for the definition of biological indices related to the prognosis, timely diagnosis and observation of cervical and breast  cancer.

The final deliverable of the project is the creation of a hierarchical model that will permit the rationalistic selection of women with preneoplasmatic alterations which require systematic supervision or even invasive treatment.

Space Hellas participates in the project as the technology provider on topics related to tele-education, certification, patient databases, and data processing in an integrated manner. Space Hellas is workpackage leader and responsible for the design and development of an Informatics  System that is directly linked with the Cytological Diagnostic Lab. All the diagnosed cases are recorded in a Database and in such a way that conclusions can be easily deduced. Those cases that are identified as significant - even from the diagnosis stage - for educational purposes,  can be characterised as educational content and can be used directly for this purpose. The result is an extensible Informatics System (IS) adapted to the requirements of the Diagnostic Lab continuously updated with the most up-to-date diagnosis/educational material. The IS permits both synchronous and asynchronous tele-education of doctors and medical students as well as their continuous evaluation.
