Intranet and Data Centre Security
The Intranet is considered as the part of the IT infrastructure that supports all functions of an organization either centrally or remotely (e.g. Disaster Site). This infrastructure includes all servers, network equipment, applications and many other information systems that support the services of the organization.
The Intranet is vulnerable to both external and internal risks. External risks may relate to attacks that have successfully penetrated the perimeter security’s mechanisms or virus-like infections and other dangerous code (Trojan Viruses, Malware, etc). At the same time, the "poor" design of the Intranet's security compromises the critical assets of the organization giving access rights to non-authorized users and systems. The amount of data transferred to the organization's Intranet often results in loss of resource availability, in the absence of mechanisms for high availability. Finally, there is often uncontrolled access to sensitive information and systems of the organizaion.
Intranet design and implementation based on best practices and safety standards (internal VLANs), internal firewalling systems, Intrusion prevention systems-IPS, Load balancers, Authentication, accounting and authorization solutions (AAA).
