Following a competitive international tender process, Space Hellas has been awarded a €300,000 contract by the European Space Agency (ESA) to study the “Role of Satellite in Future Internet Services” (Project Acronym: “φSAT”). Space Hellas will act as prime contractor for the study and will be supported by Thales Alenia Space based in Toulouse, France, and the Mobile Multimedia Lab within the Athens University of Economics of Business based in Athens, Greece.
The objective of φSAT project is to study in depth and propose new innovative architectures and integration scenarios of satellite and terrestrial networks within the Future Internet. Notably, φSAT is the first ambitious research effort funded worldwide in this direction and is expected to greatly expand the capabilities of traditional satellite networks with its innovative results.
Space Hellas is actively involved in R&D activities, both at European and national level, with many successful projects as well as an international network of partnerships in industry and academia. |
